AI Has Democratised Creation. So Now What?
Creativity Is No Longer a Differentiator, It’s Survival.
Welcome back to Changemakers, the newsletter for founders, storytellers, and operators building the next generation of impact-led ventures.
This edition is about what happens now that creativity is everywhere. AI has democratised creation, but it hasn’t democratised meaning. In a world where everyone can design, write, and publish, creativity is no longer what sets you apart. It’s what keeps you in the game.

Spotlight: When Form Beat Function (And Everyone Paid)
It started with a rebrand. The company had momentum, a solid product, and a growing partner network. But someone said, “We need to look more futuristic.” So they brought in a creative team.
4 months later, they had a new name, a bright visual system, and a tone that felt “light, ironic, and future-facing”. The new site said, “Yep. It’s the future. Welcome.”
The logo was big, bold, playful and It had cows floating on the screen…
The brand looked like a joke. The company was trying to build trust in a new food category, one that already had sceptics. Investors pulled back. Customers didn’t connect. They shut down before launching a single product.
SciFi Foods had raised over $40 million to bring cultivated meat to market. Their technology worked. But the brand never built belief.
It’s not just about looking good. It’s about signalling weight, clarity, alignment.
The work must fit the moment. And if your brand can’t carry that weight, even strong companies struggle to land.
The problem wasn’t the colour palette. It was the mismatch between story and stakes.
Creativity Is Everywhere. That’s Not the Advantage.
We’re living in a time when anyone can design, write, publish, and prototype at scale.
The bar for execution has dropped. The bar for meaning has not.
This shift means that style alone won’t carry you.
Founders need to bring creative that speaks with purpose, not just polish.
“AI didn’t kill creativity. It exposed the gap between what looks good and what actually moves people.” - Aaron C. Leaman
Function Has to Lead Form
We used to chase novelty.
Now, survival depends on resonance.
Design has to do more than impress. It has to guide, signal, and activate.
That means brand work must start from strategy.
Messaging must carry substance.
Creative work must reflect your unique view of the world, not just best practice.
In an AI-saturated world, originality lives in how you think, not just how you make.
The Survival Filter: Three Questions Founders Should Ask
Could This Be Created by Anyone?
If yes, keep going. You haven’t made your edge visible yet.Does This Reflect My Way of Seeing?
Your frameworks, your conviction, your lived experience. That’s the moat.Does This Build Trust or Just Attract Attention?
Belief is what moves people. Not just clicks or praise.
What Founders Can Learn
→ Aesthetic Doesn’t Equal Traction
→ Your Voice, Perspective, and Narrative Are the Edge
→ Frameworks Build Credibility Faster Than Features
→ Survival Is About Meaning, Not Momentum
